Talking about certain stuff tonight made me think of this song, I have a few different images in my head, a few different moments I remember, where this song comes into play. It doesn’t reflect the talking I did, but just got me remembering past moments.
Comfortably Numb
”
1. There is no pain, you are receding
2. A distant ship smoke on the horizon
3. You are coming through in waves
4. Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying
5. When I was a child I had a fever
6. My hands felt just like two balloons
7. Now I’ve got that feeling once again
8. I can’t explain, you would not understand
9. This is not how I am
10. I have become comfortably numb”
I think of:
”
1. you are falling away from me (communication wise)
2. Ship smoke on horizon is just a physical example
3. I only understand some of what you are talking about, other things completely bypass me. You might think that those that bypass me I don’t care about, but really I am just not aware of them.
4. Lips moving, again a physical example. I understand some of what you are saying by ‘reading your lips’ but I can’t actually hear (or understand) what you are saying.
5. When I was younger, or in the past, something happened to me that was bad (fever = bad). There was a period of time where stuff just wasn’t going good.
6. Hands are small, balloons can get really big. Physical example. It is a worse ‘fever’ than most other people would get.
7. Now it is happening again, that bad stuff is happening all over again, maybe not involving the same people or same things, but very similar
8. I can’t explain it because you wouldn’t understand me, you wouldn’t understand the choices I made for it, the reasons I did what I did.
9. The choices I made don’t reflect how I really am. I made them for a reason, a reason you don’t and wouldn’t understand. It is NOT how I REALLY am.
10. Because of it happening to me, and then happening to me again, I have gotten used to it, I have gotten comfortable with it. It doesn’t phase me but yet it is still painful. It is so still painful that it has turned numb, turned me numb to it, a comfortable numbness

can I ask what you’re referring to?
